About Chris Peterson

Chris Peterson is a sculptor with dual Dutch and British nationality. His oeuvre is known for large-scale sculptural projects that often serve as striking landmarks in public spaces. His artistic journey began at a young age, with a fascination for form and movement. He studied at the Utrecht School of the Arts, where he specialised in sculpture and animation. This versatility has permanently shaped his work: ‘Whether I work with stone, wood or digital techniques, the process remains the same: you search for the core of an idea and give it form.’ Peterson presents his works Magnified no.3 and Magnified no.4 at ARTZUID, with which he explores the relationship between scale and perception. By enlarging everyday objects, Peterson invites the viewer to look at the familiar with new eyes and to rediscover the complexity and beauty of simple forms. The two granite life-sized sculptures with smooth, hollow shapes invite touch and reflection.
