ARTZUID

ARTZUID is the leading Sculpture Biennale of the Netherlands. Every two years, 50 high-profile sculptures are exhibited for four months on the green lanes of Amsterdam Zuid. Our mission is to create a new meeting place on the street with a museum-quality selection of sculptures and to make art accessible to everyone free of charge.

ARTZUID

Exhibition concept

The 8th edition of ARTZUID will take place from 19 May to 24 September 2023. The Amsterdam Sculpture Biennale will present an experience exhibition with 50 artworks along the 2.5 km route. The heart of the exhibition is in Berlage’s monumental Plan Zuid with its leafy Apollolaan, Minervalaan and Churchilllaan.

Every edition, a curator is commissioned to make the sculpture selection based on the exhibition concept. In 2023 Jasper Krabbé curated the exhibition. In the past, renowned curators have put together ARTZUID. Among them: Rudi Fuchs, Henk van Os, Jan Cremer, Michiel Romeyn & Roberto Meyer, Jhim Lamoree, Maarten Bertheux and Ralph Keuning.

According to Rudi Fuchs, ARTZUID is unique in the world. He knows of no other biennial that focuses exclusively on outdoor sculpture. The special thing about an exhibition in a public space is that everyone can enjoy it.
