About Laura Schurink
Laura Schurink is known for her playful artworks that balance colour, shape, texture, and material. Her art includes sculptures, installations, and collages, often made from second-handmaterials that she removes from their original context to create new constructions. Schurinkgraduated in fashion design from the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam in 2015. After graduating, she realised that she did not want to participate in the fashion industry due to its harmful work ethic and environmental issues. She found her inspiration in objects she found in second-hand shops, which led to her current focus on compositional art. Her compositions are playful experiments that explore new aesthetics. ARTZUID 2025 shows SchurinkWarmth, a sculptural installation she made for the BUILD! project in Utrecht on the Lage Weide business park. The artwork consists of a composition of found objects and materials and explores themes such as energy, sustainability, and collaboration. With this work, she investigated the intersection of the predominantly male-dominated, raw industry and her position as a female artist.
