About Marion Verboom

French artist Marion Verboom was educated in New York and various European countries, including the Netherlands, where she had a studio at De Ateliers in Amsterdam for two years. From an early age, she was fascinated by architecture and mythology. She shows a number ofher totems, which consist of separate decorated drums that can be stacked in various ways. Each part refers to ornaments, patterns and shapes from periods and places that are far apart. They can come from India, Mesopotamia, Greece or Egypt, but also from the medieval sacred architecture of Christianity and Islam. They can be figurative or purely abstract. You see flowers and plants, faces, hands, and a pressed figure with crossed legs, who seems to hide in the corpus of the totem.
