About Bastienne Kramer

The things a culture surrounds itself with, tell stories about the beliefs that are cherished in that culture. Bastienne Kramer collects specific objects, looks at them, and uses her artistic practice to reinforce and transform the statements and riddles that are embedded in them. Her attention is focused on the way women are seen. Countless images and products from art, kitsch and mass culture show this. The ancient little idols in the antiquity museums, for example. Kramer is a ceramist. She works with craftsmanship but also uses other techniques.
