About Maen Florin

In her recent work, Belgian artist Maen Florin blurs the boundaries between humans, animals and plants. Since 2015, she has focused on ceramic sculptures, in which technical virtuosity goes hand in hand with intuition and material research. Her sculptures balance between fairytale imagination and existential unrest, between vulnerability and vitality. Florin sketches a world in transition, in which new relationships between life forms arise. With her sculptures, she opens a poetic passage to alternative worlds, in which humans and nature are reconnected. The sculpture Anastasis bears witness to this. This work, which refers to the rescue of Adam from the underworld, adds a spiritual dimension to Florin’s quest: is a paradise possible after all?
