About Magdalena Abakanowicz
‘On the geological clock that indicates four million years for our planet, human civilization has only produced culture in the last few seconds. Within this time frame, the human species has managed to endanger not only the environment and biological balance, but also itself.’ This is a statement with which Magdalena Abakanowicz describes the position of man in words. Her sculptures speak a universal language that is widely understood. In the eighties, large groups of headless bronze sculptures were created, often only skins, which envelop nothing but space. She creates sculptures in which the relationship with vulnerable man becomes increasingly precarious. Can we still restore the balance between man and nature? Or will Homo Sapiens, through its own actions, be defeated?
Sculpture of a sitting boy consists of three figures, sitting on a plinth, legs dangling, without a head. In the arrangement, the figures turn towards each other.
