About Louise Schouwenberg

Her sculptures are just a small part of her broad creative practice. From 1985 to 2003, Louise Schouwenberg worked on her sculpting practice. She created exhibitions, taught and in recent years has written about art and design.

ARTZUID shows the bronze sculpture Verknoopt that Schouwenberg made in 1996 on commission for a youth prison in Amerongen. When this institution was given a different purpose, the sculpture ended up in the sculpture collection of Keukenhof Castle in Lisse. The work consists of five uprights, each with two legs that are knotted and intertwine with each other at the top of the sculpture in a figure. The sculpture symbolises the boys in the institution who were at odds with themselves and, as it were, became one in the institution. A vital sculpture that clearly speaks of the upward force of mutual support and dedication. A sculpture in which Schouwenberg lets her background as a philosopher speak.
